Brookland House and Garden Tour to Include Caldwell Hall

Caldwell Hall

The Greater Brookland Garden Club's Sixth Annual Brookland House and Garden Tour will be held Sunday, June 11, from noon to 5 p.m., rain or shine. The tour, hosted by the Greater Brookland Garden Club and sponsored by Keller Williams Realty, will feature about 10 gardens and historic sites in the greater Brookland area, including one at The Catholic University of America and a second adjacent to it.

Caldwell Hall, the oldest building on campus, will be featured on the tour, which will highlight the architecture of the entrance as well as the beauty of the chapel. Another highlight of the tour is Mary's Garden, which is located near Caldwell Hall, at the northern end of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. This beautiful garden retreat, which belongs to the Shrine, contains a variety of trees and flowers.

A guided tour on a mini-bus with limited seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The bus will leave from Brooks Mansion, 901 Newton St., N.E., at 12:15 p.m., and stop at all of the sites on the tour, but will return periodically to the mansion to pick up additional passengers for the remaining sites. Only those boarding at 12:15 p.m. will see all of the sites.
