WHEN:

2-5 p.m., Thursday, April 24

Aquinas Auditorium
620 Michigan Ave., N.E.

DETAILS:

Mark Greenberg, senior fellow and director of the Poverty and Prosperity program at the Center for American Progress, will deliver the conference’s keynote address titled “Poverty, Families and Policy in the U.S.: Where Do We Go From Here?” A question-and-answer session with Greenberg will follow.

A panel will respond to Greenberg’s address. Panel members include: Simone Campbell, executive director of NETWORK; Sister Ann Patrick Conrad, associate professor in CUA’s National Catholic School of Social Service; Joe Feuerherd, communications director of the Council of Large Public Housing Authorities; Sandra Hanson, CUA professor of sociology; Candy Hill, senior vice president for social policy and government affairs at Catholic Charities; Faith Mullen, CUA clinical assistant professor of law; Leszek Sibilski, CUA adjunct professor of sociology, and John Kenneth White, CUA professor of politics.

“This conference on families, poverty and policy is designed to refocus attention on this vitally important issue, and to bring a Catholic perspective to the plight of poor Americans who need more from government and more services than private agencies and volunteer organizations can provide,” says White.
