CUA Receives National Honors

The Catholic University of America received an Award for Excellence in July from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for its recycling efforts in a recycling competition that involved more than 400 colleges and universities across North America.

Catholic University finished first among Washington, D.C.-area participating schools in several categories of RecycleMania 2008.

CUA also was named to the 2007 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, which recognizes colleges and universities that support innovative and effective community service and service-learning programs.

Of the 528 schools named to the Honor Roll, CUA was the only university located in Washington, D.C., to receive the award in June.

Recently, CUA has received other awards, including:

  • The Merentibus Medal from Jagiellonian University in Cracow, Poland, in April
  • Five Catholic Press Association Awards for CUA Magazine in June
  • CUA was named in July as one of the universities listed in Princeton Review's 2009 Best 368 Colleges. It also made the list the preceding year.
