Catholic University Named as One of Just 49 "Best Buys" Nationwide

The 2009 edition of the Fiske Guide to Colleges has named Catholic University one of 49 colleges and universities that qualify as "Best Buys" based on the quality of academics available to students relative to the cost of tuition.

CUA is the only Catholic college or university - and one of only 26 private institutions - to be designated a Best Buys institution by Fiske. It is the first time Catholic University has been named to this category.

"CUA has always been and will continue to be a university with an outstanding reputation," said Christine Mica, CUA's dean of university admissions.

"Our location in Washington, D.C., small classes taught by research faculty and vibrant student community attract the best and the brightest students. In a time when the soaring costs, from gas to groceries, are making headlines, being able to offer an affordable education is more important than ever. CUA is proud to be able offer academic excellence at a competitive cost."

The Fiske Guide to Colleges describes the "Best Buys" schools as a select group of institutions that "offer outstanding academics with relatively modest prices." To determine "Best Buys" institutions, Fiske researchers looked at academic offerings, life-style information and cost of tuition to determine those schools that offer remarkable educational opportunities for a bargain cost.

Fiske is a guide to the top 300 U.S. colleges and universities.
