CUA Senior Receives Intercollegiate Studies Institute Fellowship

Monica Cortright

Monica Cortright, a rising senior from Vallejo, Calif., who is studying classics and philosophy at The Catholic University of America, has been selected as one of 50 national Marion G. Wells Honors Fellows by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute.

The fellowship will allow Cortright to work with program faculty mentors throughout the 2008-2009 academic year. She also will have the opportunity to participate in seminars located throughout the country.

As part of her fellowship, Cartright attended a weeklong conference in June in Quebec City, Canada, titled "Civilization and Civilizations: The West in Context." There she met students from all over the country and participated in discussions led by faculty members from several universities.

The Intercollegiate Studies Institute is a non-profit, educational organization located in Wilmington, Del., whose purpose is to convey to successive generations of college youth a better understanding of the values and institutions that sustain a free and virtuous society, according to the institution's Web site.
