DETAILS:

Approximately 30 child welfare administrators and some of their staff from seven members of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments are expected to participate in a daylong conference at Caldwell Hall at The Catholic University of America on Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Council of Governments is a regional organization of Washington, D.C., area local governments.

This emergency response exercise will allow child welfare officials from Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia to practice how they would work together to assist foster children and other vulnerable clients during a regional emergency. The conference is the culmination of work done by Associate Professor Wendy Blome and Assistant Professor Laura Daughtery from CUA's National Catholic School of Social Service, who assisted each of the local agencies last summer in the development of tentative response plans.
