WHAT:	CUA Chemistry Class to Celebrate Halloween by Dressing as Favorite Elements

DETAILS:	Students dressed up as elements last year Award-winning chemistry Professor Diane Bunce will continue her annual tradition of celebrating Halloween with her students by impersonating the various elements of the periodic table in a game of chemical masquerade. Students in Bunce’s Chemistry in the World Around Us course, which is offered to non-science majors, must research their element or compound and design a costume that demonstrates at least three properties of the substance. They write these on an index card (along with the name of the substance) and then present clues  to their classmates, who then try to guess who they are. It’s no Halloween trick. Bunce treats students to up to five points on their next exam based on the success of their research and the presentation of their costume. Bunce will be dressed as the element Silver (chemical symbol Ag) for the class.
