Forty-five members of the Association of Indonesian Nurse Education Center were treated to a tour and presentations during a visit earlier this month to Catholic University's School of Nursing.

Nalini Jairath, dean of the School of Nursing, and Associate Dean Mary Paterson met with the group on Oct. 23 and spoke about CUA's programs, curriculum and student life. The delegation, which was accompanied by A.R. Aji Nasution of the Embassy of Indonesia, sat in on a demonstration of the school's Simulation Lab by Alice Myers, adjunct assistant professor.

"We were honored to have the deans and directors from leading schools of nursing in Indonesia visit our school and learn about our curriculum and about non-traditional teaching approaches such as the use of clinical simulation," said Nalini Jairath, dean of nursing. "In our discussion, it was apparent that despite cultural and linguistic differences, we share so much in common with respect to our approach to educating the nurses of the future."

Among the visitors was an alumna, Elly Nurachmah, D.N.Sc. 1998, chair of the Association of Indonesian Nurse Education Center and professor of medical surgical nursing at the University of Indonesia.
