• Winter Sports Forecast: Good Sledding on Mt. CUA
For decades — perhaps as long as Catholic University has existed — students have been sledding on the campus slopes, especially those in front of Marist Hall, beside Hartke Theatre and beside Flather Hall. In recent years, however, the traditional sleds of choice — dining hall trays — have yielded preeminence to store-bought plastic models.

“I remember some daredevils sledding down the steps from O’Boyle Hall,” says Rev. Jim Sabak, B.A. 1985, M.A. 2003, who is now working on his Ph.D. in the School of Theology and Religious Studies. “We also used to form a toboggan of sorts — four or five of us would each be on a tray, lined up one behind the other. Then you’d hold on to the person in front of you, and off you went — it usually turned into a tumbled mess.”
