The Order of Malta conferred the Grand Cross of the Order on Thomas Patrick Melady, M.A. 1952, Ph.D. 1955, LL.B. 1992 (A&S), former president of Sacred Heart University and former U.S. ambassador to Burundi, Uganda and the Vatican.

Joseph J. Binowski, B.A. 1957 (A&S), and wife Mary announce the marriage of their daughter, Kristin, to William Schmidt on July 1. Joe and Mary live in Orleans, Mass.

A biography of Inger Sites, M.S.L.S. 1957 (LIS), titled INGER! A Modern-Day Viking Discovers America (ScanAm Communications), has been written by her husband, James N. Sites, a longtime journalist. Inger first visited the United States as an exchange student from her native Norway at the end of World War II and later married James, an officer on the ship that brought her to this country.
