CUA President’s Festival of the Arts: ‘Aaron Copland’s America’

The Benjamin T. Rome School of Music is presenting “Aaron Copland’s America” as the CUA President’s Festival of the Arts, March 27 through April 8. A celebration of the famed composer’s life and music, the festival features films and lectures about Copland from March 27 to March 30 and a series of performances from March 31 to April 8.

Headlining the festival are performances of the Rogers and Hammerstein musical, Oklahoma; Copland’s Appalachian Spring and The Tender Land; and a staged reading of a little-known play called Quiet City, which includes music by the composer. Festival performers will include the CUA Chorus and Symphony Orchestra and students and professors of the Department of Drama and the Musical Theatre Program. All but one of the performances are at the Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center.

The festival’s films and lectures will be held on campus. For ticket prices and additional details about the festival, visit http://music.cua.edu or call 202-319-5414.
