Letter From Your CUA Alumni Director
As I walk our beautiful Catholic University campus, I love to remember walking the same sidewalks during my college days. There are significant visible changes but so much is still the same today. The Columbus School of Law building, Hannan Hall and the beautiful new residence halls down by Ryan and Reagan certainly weren’t here in the ’70s, not to mention the fantastic Pryzbyla Center, but Gibbons Hall and the Shrine still overlook the mall, the old gym houses the School of Architecture and Planning (an amazing transformation took place inside!), and McMahon Hall (the home of the alumni office) is still the graceful sentinel of campus.
My undergraduate days were some of the best times of my life and they truly shaped who I am today. I have such a special place in my heart for this campus and the people of CUA, past and present.
I’m sure that you feel the same way about our alma mater. Maybe some of you are looking for a way to stay involved with CUA and connected with your former classmates and roommates. That’s where I come in.
As the director of alumni relations, one of my goals is to get as many of you involved at Catholic University as I can. We want you to feel a part of your university whether you live in the area or many miles away. There are many alumni events, programs and committees offering different ways to be a part of the CUA community today.
We’re working with your fellow alums right now on a variety of events on and off campus. One event you will be hearing much more about is 2006’s combined Homecoming and Reunions Weekend on Oct. 13–15. That weekend will celebrate the classes of 1996, 1991, 1986, 1981, 1976, 1971, 1966, 1961 and 1956 (50 years!), as well as honoring Alumni Achievement Award winners and giving us a chance to root for the CUA football team. Planning is underway for special events featuring CUA schools, teams and even some sororities and fraternities from the old days.
Remember, if we don’t have your current home or e-mail address, we can’t send you invitations to fun and interesting alumni events being planned by our office and your fellow alumni. Take a minute to call us or go online at http://alumni.cua.edu to let us know. Also, if you want the latest news about all things CUA, you’ll want to sign up for our monthly alumni e-mail newsletter. Just send a note to firstname.lastname@example.org requesting to be placed on the e-newsletter list and including your preferred e-mail address. Let us know any news or suggestions you might have for alumni events or programs, as well.
I look forward to getting to know you in the coming years and I hope you will come back to campus soon.
Marion McDuffie Gosney, B.A. 1975
