Catholic University and seven other Mid-Atlantic universities have formed a new NCAA Division III athletic conference in which all CUA sports except football will compete, beginning in the fall of 2007.
Other institutions forming the conference are Drew University (Madison, N.J.), Goucher College (Baltimore), Juniata College (Huntingdon, Pa.), Moravian College (Bethlehem, Pa.), Stevens Institute of Technology (Hoboken, N.J.), Susquehanna University (Selinsgrove, Pa.), and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (King’s Point, N.Y.).
“This new athletic conference will bring together eight institutions that are very similar in terms of academic mission, cost and athletic philosophy,” says CUA Athletic Director Michael Allen. “The fact that we will now have several conference games each year throughout the greater New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania areas will be a great resource in terms of expanding our recruiting efforts and allowing CUA alumni throughout the region to stay connected to our athletic programs.”
