Polish Awards: Professor Leah Wortham of CUA’s Columbus School of Law received the “With Merit to Jagiellonian University” Medal from the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, Poland, for her ongoing assistance to the institution’s faculty and students. The Polish university also awarded Catholic University its Merentibus Medal in recognition of the important professional contributions made to Jagiellonian by many faculty and staff of the CUA law school over the course of the 18 years that the two institutions have enjoyed a cooperative academic relationship.



Awards for CUA Magazine: On May 30 the Catholic Press Association announced the winners of its annual awards contest. CUA Magazine received two first-place awards and two second- place awards:

  • Best feature article in a professional/special interest magazine (First place); “Bigfamiliasauras: Is the Large Catholic Family Becoming Extinct?” by Maggie Master, Summer 2007 issue
  • Best personality profile (First place); “A Brief History of Space” by Maggie Master, Spring 2007 issue

  • CUA Magazine fall 2007 cover
  • Best cover, four-color, large (Second place); “The Record, the Broadcast and the Nazis” by Tony Fiorini and Donna Hobson, Fall 2007 issue
  • Best essay in a professional/special interest magazine (Second place); “Value Family” by Very Rev. David M. O’Connell, C.M., CUA president, Summer 2007 issue
