Summer Opera Benefit Will Honor the Late Vincent P. Walter Jr.
Vincent P. Walter Jr.
The Summer Opera Theatre Company sponsors a “Gala 2001 Dinner, Dance and Musicale, A Celebration of Life … Vincent P. Walter Jr.,” to be held on Saturday, March 24, at 6 p.m. The benefit for the opera company, housed at The Catholic University of America, will be held at the Washington Monarch Hotel, Washington, D.C.
The late Vincent Walter was a founding board member of Summer Opera and husband of the company’s founder and general manager, Elaine Walter. “His hand helped every aspect of the company and he loved every part of it,” said a spokesman for Summer Opera. “Vincent’s enthusiasm for life, for family, for Catholic University and for Summer Opera was so strong and so sincere, one’s only choice was to join him.”
At the time of his death, Mr. Walter was general secretary and vice president of Catholic University, and served his alma mater in various positions for 28 years.
The fund-raiser will honor the contributions of Mr. Walter, who died in a car accident on Aug. 3, 2000. Proceeds for the evening will benefit the Summer Opera Theatre Company, Inc., and its 2001 season productions of Lehar’s The Merry Widow and Janacek’s Jenufa, to be held at Hartke Theatre on Catholic University’s campus.
Tickets are $250 per person for dinner patrons, $2,000 for a table of 10 and $1,000 - $5,000 for corporate sponsorship packages.
