CUA to Celebrate Basketball Championship at Noon on March 20

 

The Catholic University of America community will gather Tuesday, March 20, outside the front of McMahon Hall to honor its menís basketball team and celebrate the national championship won by the team in the NCAA Division III finals last weekend.

The celebration on the steps of McMahon Hall, to be led by the Rev. Robert Friday, vice president for student life, will include remarks by the Very Rev. David M. O'Connell, C.M., university President, Undergraduate Student Government President Rashaun Martin, Athletic Director Robert Talbot, Head Coach Michael Lonergan and a member of the basketball team. The Rev. Robert Schlageter, O.F.M. Conv., university chaplain, will give the invocation.

 

The men's basketball team brought home a national championship for the first time in the university's history with a 76-62 victory against William Paterson in the final match, held March 17 in Salem, Va.
