D.C. City Council to Honor CUA’s 2001 NCAA Basketball Champions

The District of Columbia City Council plans to present a ceremonial resolution Tuesday, May 1, honoring the Catholic University Men’s Basketball Team for winning the 2001 NCAA Division III National Championship.

Coach Michael Lonergan, Assistant Coach Marty Moyers, senior player Kurt Zeisler, senior manager Joe Olickan and freshman manager Robert Hay will be attending the regular 10 a.m. council meeting to collect the award.

The council will award the resolution during their regular monthly meeting, held in the council chambers on the first floor at One Judiciary Square.

The Cardinals clinched the NCAA Division III title on March 17 in Salem, Va., with a 76-62 win over William Paterson in the final game.
