April 21-25

Marin Gozze, Set Designer

Award-winning set designer Martin Gozze is artist-in-residence at the Marin Drzic Theatre in Dubrovnik, Croatia, where he has worked for the past 25 years. One of the leading set designers in Croatia, he graduated from the Academy for Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, Serbia, where he studied with professor and well-known set designer Milenko Serban. Later Gozze specialized in theater and television design in Italy.

Working with leading European directors, Gozze has designed more than 120 sets for classic and contemporary plays at professional theaters in Central and Eastern Europe. He is particularly well known for turning outdoor spaces into imaginative theater sets. The recipient of numerous distinguished theater prizes, Gozzi recently received the Marulovi dani award for set design — the highest theater award given in Croatia. The honor stemmed from Gozzi’s work with the Academy Award-winning Czechoslovakian director Jirzy Mencel at the Dubrovnik Festival.
