Visiting International Students To Debate at Catholic University


WHAT:                         International High School Debate Exchange Program to Hold “Public Legislative Session” at CUA

DETAILS:                     The Catholic University of America will welcome 32 students and their teachers from eight countries for a public legislative session designed to showcase the oratorical skills the students have learned through the Summer 2004 International High School Debate Exchange Program. After three weeks of studying the role of discussion and debate in U.S. civil society,  students from Haiti, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Russia, China, Argentina, Zimbabwe and South Africa will debate the use of weapons of mass destruction, cyber-terrorism and cloning. Audience members and special guests at the debate will include representatives from the National Forensic League; the Open Society Institute; the International Debate Education Association, and several divisions of the U.S. State Department.


The event is free and open to the public.
