DETAILS:      Peter Steinfels, who writes The New York Times’ “Beliefs” column on ethics and religion, will discuss his widely reviewed new book, “A People Adrift: The Crisis of the Roman Catholic Church in America.” Senior religion correspondent for the Times from 1988 to 1997, Steinfels also was co-director of “American Catholics in the Public Square,” a research project funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts.
