DETAILS:         CUA presents Monsignor Roch Page, professor of canon law at St. Paul's  Ottawa University in Canada, as speaker for the university’s Second Annual James H. Provost Memorial Lecture. Page will lecture on “The Future of Parishes and the Present Canonical Legislation.”


                        The Provost Lecture honors the memory of Rev. James H. Provost, a longtime professor of canon law at CUA who died on Aug. 26, 2000, from complications of lymphoma.


Father Provost joined the faculty of CUA’s School of Canon Law in 1979 after holding the posts of chancellor and officialis of the tribunal for the Diocese of Helena (Montana). He worked as executive coordinator of the Canon Law Society of America from 1980 to 1986 and received the society’s highest honor, the Role of Law Award, in 1981.


Provost served as managing editor of the CUA School of Canon Law faculty’s journal, “The Jurist,” from 1980 until his death.
