DETAILS:         Catholic University presents “Taking Sides,” the 2001 movie by director István

Szabó that’s based on the life of Wilhelm Furtwangler, the renowned conductor

of the Berlin Philharmonic who was investigated as part of the Allies’ de-

Nazification program after World War II.


From April 11 to 16, Catholic University presents symposia that celebrate the creation of music in reaction to war and its power as a means of artistic expression. The symposia complement CUA’s 2005 President’s Concert — “Waging Peace: Music in Time of War” — to be performed over four evenings from April 14 to 17.
