DETAILS:         Father Giles Dimock, O.P., professor of liturgy and sacraments at the Dominican House of Studies, will deliver the fourth lecture in the series “Faith, Reason and the Imagination: Seeing the Sacred.” In his talk, titled “Art and the Liturgy,” Father Dimock will explore art as a means of approaching God and the ways that Church art can enhance participation in the liturgy.

Father Dimock’s lecture accompanies an exhibit at the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center titled “Contemplating the Sacred: Religious Works of Contemporary Artists,” which opened March 8 and will run through April 15. Provided by the Foundation for Sacred Arts, the exhibit at the cultural center is the first of several stops on a national tour.

The lecture series and art exhibit will explore the intersection of faith, reason and the imagination, expanding the themes of a fall 2003 lecture series at CUA that examined faith and the formation of intellect. The final lecture in the series is scheduled for April 13.

All the lectures are free and open to the public. For more information, call 202-319-5114.
