Punyko Voted First Team All-South Pick in Field Hockey
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Junior Jamie Punyko (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) was voted a first team All-South region pick for her performance during Catholic University's 2004 field hockey season.
Punyko’s selection to the STX/ National Field Hockey Coaches Association team is just the latest recognition she has received for her standout play, which included six goals, seven assists and three defensive saves.
Last month, Punyko, who plays center midfield, was named first team All-Capital Athletic Conference, a feat given that Salisbury University, the 2003 and 2004 Division III national champions, play in the CAC.
Punyko served as a captain on the 2004 Cardinal field hockey team, which posted a 4-1 record in the CAC — its best showing ever. In addition to her accolades, four other Cardinal players received second-team All-Conference recognition.
Senior Goalie Erin Swift (Middletown, N.J./Red Bank Catholic), junior forward Christy Engstrom (Phoenixville, Pa./Spring-Ford), junior sweeper Kathleen Langan (Columbia, Md./Hammond) and freshman forward Michele Repass (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) all made the second-team. Repass also was selected as conference rookie of the year.
