DETAILS:         Professor Averil Cameron will speak on “Enforcing Orthodoxy in

Byzantium.”   Cameron is Warden of Keble College, Oxford, and professor of

late antique and Byzantine studies at that university, of which she has also been pro-vice-chancellor.  Before moving to Oxford in 1989, she was for more than 15 years professor of ancient history and then of late antique and Byzantine

studies at King’s College, London.


Cameron, who has many publications and honors in her field, is a fellow of the British Academy and of the Society of Antiquaries and currently is president of the Ecclesiastical History Society.
