WHAT: Symposium: The Spirituality of the American Priest
WHERE: The Catholic University of America
Life Cycle Institute
620 Michigan Ave., N.E.
DETAILS: The National Federation of Priests’ Councils and CUA’s Center for American Catholic Studies present this symposium occasioned by the publication of “Stewards of God’s Mysteries: Priestly Spirituality in a Changing Church,” by Paul Philibert, O.P., with the assistance of Melvin Blanchette, S.S., and Rev. Daniel Danielson. The book, published by Liturgical Press, shows how priests today participate in the dying and the rising of Jesus Christ through the challenges and joys of priesthood, including a more diverse Catholic community and greater demands on priests. The book is written as a text, giving practical guidance on how to maintain faith-filled ideals in the midst of these complexities and pressures. It was inspired partly by consultations sponsored by the National Federation of Priests’ Councils.
Both authors will present and discuss the text, and the keynote speaker will be Most Rev. Timothy Dolan, archbishop of Milwaukee, chair of the Bishops' Committee on Priestly Life and Ministry.
The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Dean R. Hoge at 202-319-5999 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
