WHAT: Film/Lecture: “The ‘Reel’ Maid of

The
DETAILS: Kevin Harty’s talk will include excerpts from 100 years of cinematic productions celebrating the life and legacy of Joan of Arc, including some early and very rare films. His remarks will be supplemented by clips from the following films: The Execution of Joan of Arc (1898), The Joan of Arc of Loos (1916), Joan the Maid (1935), Joan of Paris (1942), Joan of Arc (1948), The Little Drummer Girl
(1984), Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989), and The Messenger (1999).
This film-illustrated lecture is offered in conjunction with a series of Joan
of Arc-related events and exhibits around
Harty is an internationally recognized authority on cinematic depictions of the Middle Ages, especially films about Robin Hood, King Arthur and Joan of Arc. He has written several books on Arthurian films and is presently working on one about Joan of Arc in film.
The CUA lecture is free and open to the public and includes a reception with light
