CUA Launches Solar-Design Competition for Students

DETAILS:

CUA, one of Washington, D.C.’s newest solar-energy producers, is hosting a solar-design competition to help its students learn more about alternative energy.

Teams of CUA students will compete to design a functional picnic table capable of supplying and storing power generated by solar-energy panels.

Details will be announced at a kick-off event, where students will form teams with the help of the student Green Club. Faculty members and energy-industry professionals who will serve as advisers to the teams will be introduced.

The winning team and its design will be announced on April 22, the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.

The solar-design competition is sponsored by the School of Architecture and Planning, the School of Engineering, and the Department of Facilities Maintenance and Operations.
