Architecture Lecture by Michael Arad, Designer of the 9/11 Memorial in New York

Michael Arad, partner in Handel Architects, will deliver the second annual George Marcou Memorial lecture. Arad will discuss his design for the 9/11 Memorial at the World Trade Center site, “Reflecting Absence,” which was chosen from among more than 5,000 entries in an international competition.
In 2006, he was one of six recipients of the Young Architects Award of the American Institute of Architects. The award honors architects who have been licensed for 10 years or fewer and who have shown “exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to the profession early in their years.”
The Marcou Memorial Lecture is presented to honor George T. Marcou, professor emeritus of urban planning at Catholic University, who passed away in 2011.
