DETAILS

An afternoon and evening of fire awareness, including a commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire, healthful life safety measures, and opportunities to talk with Shawn Simon and Alvaro Llanos. They are two survivors of the 2000 fire in Seton Hall University’s Boland Hall, a freshman residence hall, in which three students died and dozens were injured.

Simon and Llanos will be available from 1 to 4 p.m. At 6 p.m., they will introduce “After the Fire,” a documentary focusing on the fire and their lives since then, with a Q&A following the film.

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend to learn how to be proactive in preventing fires and maintaining safety.

Students can also sign up for the chance to win an iPad, with the drawing held at the end of the event.
