Catholic University to Operate Normal Schedule March 16, 2016

Dear University Community,

The Catholic University of America will operate on a normal schedule Wednesday, March 16, 2016. WMATA has announced a 29-hour shutdown of all Metrorail services beginning at midnight tonight for emergency inspections, until 5 a.m. on Thursday, March 17. According to its website, Metrobus and MetroAccess will operate on a normal schedule.

Given that this will have an impact on commuters to campus, faculty may wish to consider alternative options for delivering their classes, such as using Blackboard or assigning additional work in lieu of class. Faculty should communicate with their students if they choose this course of action.

Unless students hear otherwise, they should assume that their classes will occur at the normal time and place.

Non-essential staff are permitted to take leave tomorrow and should notify their supervisors by 9:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. Given the impact WMATA will have on traffic, supervisors are encouraged to allow flexible start and leave times for their staff members.

Parking restrictions on campus will be relaxed tomorrow to accommodate the anticipated increase in vehicular traffic; parking permits are not required. In addition, the Shrine overflow lot on Harewood Road will be available to faculty, staff, and students all day, and the Public Safety Shuttle will make regular stops there.
