University Hires Associate Vice President for Marketing and Communications

President John Garvey announced today that the University has hired Jacquelyn Malcolm as the new associate vice president for marketing and communications, effective March 15.

Malcolm has worked in marketing, communications, and alumni relations at a number of higher education institutions since 1997. She has served since March 2015 as executive director of marketing and communications at Delaware State University, where she also worked as the executive director of integrated marketing from October 2005 to December 2008. Before returning last year to Delaware State University, Malcolm worked at the University of the District of Columbia, where she served as executive director of interactive media and portal administrator, executive director of alumni relations, and assistant vice president for marketing, communications, and alumni relations.

Prior to joining the University of the District of Columbia, she worked at the University of Delaware as assistant director of alumni relations and at The George Washington University as associate director of law school alumni relations.

She earned a B.S. in business administration from Drexel University and an M.S. in project management from The George Washington University. She expects to receive her Ed.D. in educational leadership from Delaware State University in 2017.

And she brings valuable experience to this responsibility. I look forward to working with her.”

Christopher Lydon, vice president for enrollment management and marketing, said, “Jackie was very impressive in her interview. Her marketing experiences in higher education and high-energy style, as well as her interest in our mission and advancing our institutional visibility, made her the best choice to serve as Catholic University’s first chief marketing officer.”

As the associate vice president for marketing and communications, Malcolm will serve as the chief marketing officer responsible for the University’s internal and external communications, oversee production of all CUA publications that are targeted at an external audience, serve as editor in chief of the alumni magazine and annual report, direct the website, oversee all media relations, and be responsible for the advertising and marketing strategy supporting the University’s 12 academic schools as well as other CUA constituents.
