Charles Scalera, B.Arch. 1950 (ARCH), of New York City, is now retired. Because of his ongoing volunteer work, he was recently named one of the “Best People in NYC” by Snapple Beverage Corp.

Chuck Strauss, B.A. 1957 (A&S), and Jane (Hillig) Strauss, B.A. 1957 (A&S), of Faber, Va., celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Feb. 1 by returning to the site of their honeymoon, Colonial Williamsburg, Va. Their sons hosted a special open house for the couple’s friends and family the next day in Green County, Va.

Keith J. Egan, M.A. 1959 (A&S), of South Bend, Ind., has been appointed president of the Carmelite Institute, Washington, D.C. He is the Joyce McMahon Hank Aquinas Chair in Catholic Theology Emeritus at Saint Mary’s College, and an adjunct professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame.

Robert J. “Bob” Talbot, B.A. 1959 (A&S), CUA’s former athletic director, received the James Cardinal Hickey National Figure Award from the Office of Youth Ministry/Catholic Youth Organization of the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., on May 14. The award was given for his many years of coaching young people at Catholic University and at St. John’s College High School in Washington, D.C., and for his on-going volunteer service to injured military personnel at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Bethesda Naval Hospital through the Yellow Ribbon Fund. He lives in Chevy Chase, Md.
